Prof. Hélène Vézina. The BALSAC Infrastructure and its use in health-related research. - Descripción
Summary: The BALSAC database on the Quebec population has been in development since 1971. It is largely used in health-related research with projects on inherited and multifactorial disorders, as well as on the genealogical and genetic structure of the population. In this talk, I will provide an overview of the development of the database and of the approaches used to conduct health-related research projects. I will also provide examples to illustrate the various types of research, and look at how it has evolved in the past decades. Lastly, I will describe a newly funded initiative centered on the integration of demographic, genetic and geographic data and on the development of analytical tools to support research on the genetic determinants of health. |
